Industrial Action forces bus cancellations tomorrow

Some Auckland bus routes will be affected by industrial action tomorrow (Thursday).

Drivers employed by NZ Bus are taking industrial action between 9am and 2.30pm. Services affected are Metrolink, Go West, North Star, and Waka Pacific.

Limited alternative services will be operating during these hours on the following routes:

• InnerLink services will run as normal.
• OuterLink (will be running every 30 minutes instead of the scheduled 15 minutes).
• CityLink.
• Great North Road: Route 135 from Henderson to Victoria St, City.
• New North Road: Route 220 from St Lukes to City Centre.
• Sandringham Road: Route 249 from Stoddard Road (Wesley) to City Centre.
• Dominion Road: Route 258 from Denbeigh Ave to City Centre.
• Mt Eden Road: Route 274 from Three Kings to Britomart.
• Manukau Road: Route 302 from Onehunga to City Centre.
• Great South Road: Route 471 from Manurewa to Britomart.
• Remuera Road: Route 625 from Glen Innes to Britomart.
• Tamaki Drive: Route 767 from St Heliers to Britomart.
• Mangere Road: Routes 351 from Onehunga to Otahuhu.
• Beach Road: Route 858 from Long Bay to Wellesley St, City.
• East Coast Road: Route 879 from Long Bay to Mayoral Dr, City.
• Hibiscus Coast Highway: Route 981 from Orewa to Manly.
• Hospital: Route 283 from Britomart to Auckland Hospital and Greenlane Hospital.

Customers should be aware that some of the alternative services may not be configured to carry customers who need super low floor access.

School buses and all other bus, train and ferry services will operate as normal.

Auckland Transport’s Bus Services Manager, Brendon Main, says AT has been informed of the industrial action by NZ Bus but is trying to reduce the impact on passengers where possible.

"Auckland Transport is working with other bus operators to provide buses and drivers to maintain a skeleton service on key routes as we try to minimise disruptions to the travelling public."

AT staff will be on duty at some busy locations to assist customers with information and advice.

Travellers are advised to check with the Auckland Transport call centre or AT.govt.nz website before making travel plans to find out if services may be available.
