SCIRT Traffic Update: For the week starting Monday February 1 2016
Schools re-open this week after the Christmas and New Year holidays. Please take care around schools and be alert for children cycling on and crossing the roads.
Woodham Road – Gloucester Street intersection, restrictions for about 4 months
• Please support your local businesses that are currently affected by this work.
• Wastewater repairs mean lane reductions and turning restrictions at the intersection.
• Temporary traffic lights are in place to help traffic flow.
Ferry Road, Woolston
A section of the storm water network is being repaired on Ferry Rd just east of Ensors Rd for about 8 weeks.The works may cause delays.
Addington, night works
• Wastewater repairs at night, on a section of Brougham St, near the junction with the Southern Motorway, and Selwyn St near Hazeldean Rd, are starting and should take a week to complete.
• Be aware of lane width reductions.
Bealey Avenue, eastbound, reduced lanes
Bealey Ave between Madras St and Packe St has reduced lanes for wastewater repairs. Please look out for merging traffic and especially consider cyclists.
Hills Road, Shirley, reduced lanes
• From January 25 SCIRT is working on Hills Rd between Warden St and Shirley Rd for about 3 months repairing storm water, roads, footpaths..
• Bus and cycle lanes are closed to make room for the worksite and to maintain two-way traffic. Please watch for and take care around cyclists.
• Hills Rd is one way northbound between Guild St and Dudley St.
Fendalton Road, Fendalton
Please watch for lane shifts while storm water repairs are carried out between Deans Ave and Holmwood Rd.
Avonside Drive, Avonside
Between Fitzgerald Ave and Stanmore Rd, Avonside Drive is one way going west towards the city for road and kerb repairs. Traffic travelling east is being detoured into Stanmore Rd and Gloucester St.
Moorhouse Ave, night works
• Between Hagley Ave and Stewart St, Moorhouse Ave going east will have a reduced lane at night for 10 days from Sunday 31 January.
• Moorhouse Ave overbridge is reduced to one lane each way for the duration of the repair project.
Worcester Street, Linwood, major wastewater repairs
• Worcester St is closed between Woodham Rd and Dacre St with limited access to residents only.
• It remains one-way southbound between Wyon St and Linwood Ave.
Shirley Road, short detour
Traffic going eastwards towards The Palms shopping centre is being detoured, because of culvert repairs at Stapletons Rd. The detour uses Emmett St, Orontes St and Quinns Rd and back onto Shirley Rd.
Beach Road, New Brighton, major wastewater and storm water works underway
• There are major work sites in Beach Road between Ascot Avenue and Bower Avenue, and between Bower Avenue and Effingham Street.
• Beach Rd is currently closed between Ascot Ave and Flemington Street, and between Bower Avenue and Effingham St.
• The section outside the shops -Naked Baker, Beach Road Fish Supply and North Beach Dairy- is open one way westbound, and parking has been maintained. Please continue to support these local businesses.
New Brighton Road, Burwood, between Bassett St and Anzac Drive is closed for installation of 2 wastewater pressure mains. The detour is via Bassett St, QE11 Dr and Travis Rd. The work is for 5 months.
Aranui- Wainoni
There are several road closures in this area. Please take extra care around these suburbs where SCIRT is installing a new resilient vacuum wastewater system. See the Aranui map for road closures, bus routes and detours.

Bower Ave, Parklands
• From 25 January Bower Ave has a road closure between Queenspark Drive and Rue de la Mare while wastewater work is underway near the intersection of Queenspark Dr and Bower Ave.
• Temporary traffic lights will maintain access to and from Queenspark Dr from the southern side of the Bower Ave intersection.
• Queenspark Drive will be one-way for westbound traffic only, between Chadbury St and Inwoods Rd, for about 2 weeks.
• The best detours to the Parklands Marae are: Inwoods Rd to Broadhaven Ave to Lamorna or Beach Rd to Donnington Rd. Please continue to support the shops at the Parklands Mall.
Marine Parade, New Brighton
A progressive one-way system is in place for road renewal between Beach Rd and Pacific Rd for southbound traffic.
