Kapiti Run for Youth turns raises $13,303 for Youth
The Web Genius Kapiti Run for Youth (KR4Y) took place on Sunday 8 November 2015. On the day Maclean Park was packed with old and young, baby buggies and lots of dogs all ready to walk or run 6 or 12 kms from Paraparaumu Beach to Raumati Beach and return (twice if you were doing 12kms). “It’s an exciting day to be part of as the objective is quite simple, to have fun with others on the beach while doing something worthwhile for an important part of our community, youth, said Helene Judge, Campaign Manager.
“Once the event was over we held open online sponsorship so we could maximise the flow of donations still coming in from participants and their supporters. We are really pleased to report that KR4Y has raised $13,303” said Richard Calkin of Web Genius. We are now in the process of paying out the money to Youth Quest and our fundraising partners, being Activate Youth, Girl Guiding Kapiti, Kapiti Basketball Association, Kapiti Youth Support, Kenakena School Boys Mentoring Group, No 49 (Kapiti) Squadron Air Training Corps, Paraparaumu Beach School and Paraparaumu Playcentre.
Richard paid tribute to everyone by saying, “I am very proud that KR4Y is proving to be a credible and sustainable event and my thanks go to everyone involved – the Planning Committee, Sponsors and of course everyone that participates either as an individual or in a group.”
