Hutt City Council pioneers online consent applications

HUTT CITY COUNCIL NEWS RELEASE

19 January 2016

Hutt City Council pioneers online consent applications

Lower Hutt residents and businesses can now save more time on building and resource consents with an improved online service.

All applications are now available to be completed, submitted and paid for online.

Hutt City Council is the first local authority in the Wellington region to offer the service.

The upgrade includes an online payment option and improvements to the consent application process that means the online system, which has been in place since 2012, remains at the forefront of building and resource consent application systems.

Online applications are processed faster, with less time spent on paperwork and manual data entry. This means projects are underway sooner.

The online service complements the recent move to mobile devices for building inspectors, making inspections faster, easier and more efficient.

Environmental Consents Divisional Manager Helen Oram, says that the service reinforces Council’s status as an industry leader in New Zealand.

“We are committed to making business easier for our customers and this service makes the process quicker and more efficient.

“Now is the time to do business in the Hutt”.

The service is available now at huttcity.govt.nz/apply-online.
