Executive Appointments at Southern DHB

Southern DHB has appointed to the three key executive positions of Chief Medical Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Communications.

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Nigel Millar, to the position of Chief Medical Officer, Clive Smith, to the position of Chief Financial Officer and Dr Nicola Mutch to the position of Director of Communications,” said Southern DHB Chief Executive, Carole Heatly.

Chief Medical Officer Nigel Millar comes to Southern DHB from Canterbury DHB, where for over ten years he has been Chief Medical Officer and a physician. He is also a member of the National Health IT Board.

Chief Financial Officer, Clive Smith is currently the Chief Financial Officer for the Meteorological Service of New Zealand. Clive is Chartered Global Management Accountant, a member of the Institute of Directors, and has a Master’s in Business Administration.

Director of Communication, Dr Nicola Mutch is currently the Marketing and Communications Manager at Otago Polytechnic. She has also worked extensively for Amnesty International and the University of Otago, where she also gained a PhD in corporate social responsibility.

“These posts are pivotal in moving the DHB forward. The commissioner team and the now complete executive team are looking forward to a very challenging and positive year ahead for Southern DHB. We look forward to welcoming Nigel, Clive and Nicola to Southern DHB,” said Ms Heatly.

Dr Nicola Mutch will start in the position of Director of Communications on 22 February 2016, Dr Nigel Millar will start in the position of Chief Medical Officer on 7 March 2016, and Clive Smith will start in the position of Chief Financial Officer on 29 March 2016.

The appointees are all looking forward to starting their positions at Southern DHB.
