Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter Weekly Roundup 13 - 20 Dec

A quieter week of the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter resulted in 4 missions and a crew training sortie as follows;


Tues 15 An afternoon call-out to Kiwitea, north of Feilding, where a farm worker injured in a collision between a farm ute and a farm bike. He was airlifted to Palmerston north Hospital.

Fri 18 AN early morning mission to Pukeokahu, north of Taihape, where an elderly man had slipped and fallen in his home suffering hip injuries. He was stabilised at the scene before being airlifted top Palmerston north Hospital in a stable condition.

Sat 19 A midnight call-out to Peka Peka, near Waikanaea, for a local 20 year old female who had suffered serious injuries when she came out of a moving car. The patient was flown to Wellington Hospital in a stable condition with the crew using Night Vision Goggles to complete the mission - arriving back in Palmerston North at 2.30 am.

Sun 20 A mid afternoon call to Taihape where a Hastings woman in her 40’s had suffered injuries when she was knocked over by a loose horse that had broken free from a tethering point. The incident occurred at a dressage competition and it is understood the patient had not seen the panicked horse before it had collided with her at full force, knocking her unconscious to the ground. The patient was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital in a stable condition.
