Crowd Goes Wild for The Coromandel

The Coromandel is about to hit prime time television showcasing idyllic coastal scenery and the breathtaking Coromandel Ranges. Local pro surfer Ella Williams hosted celebrity sports presenter Hayley Holt from Crowd Goes Wild TV. The talented duo surfed the famous Whangamata break before conquering Sleeping God Canyon in the depths of the Kauaeranga Valley.

Ella Williams has continued the form that saw her win the junior world surfing title into the 2015 year with another string of victories. Hayley Holt is no stranger to sporting success having competed internationally at snowboarding and ballroom dancing.

For Ella the highlight was discovering something new, “Canyoning was an incredible experience. I feel super lucky to have had the opportunity to explore our patch of paradise. I couldn’t believe this epic experience was right here in my backyard.”

While the ocean swells didn’t amount to decent waves there was still plenty of fun to be had in Whangamata. A relaxed long board session reinforced the town's reputation as a great place to learn to surf.

Destination Coromandel, the agency tasked with marketing The Coromandel, featured Ella in a GoPro film series which they sent to Crowd Goes Wild TV as an invitation to visit the region. Hayley Holt was quick to embrace the challenge, selecting surfing and canyoning for her kiwi adventure.

This summer Destination Coromandel will be inviting the public to submit their own adventures on video to be in to win outdoor prizes courtesy of Torpedo 7.

Crowd Goes Wild will screen the surfing tonight, Thursday 17th of December, at 7.00pm.

The Canyoning will be featured when the show returns to air in the New Year.
