Motorcyclist airlifted to Hospital following accident
The Palmerston North based Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Moawhango on the Napier-Taihape road this afternoon following a Motorcycle accident. A Taihape man in his 40’s suffered serious internal injuries in the crash when his motorcycle left the road narrowly missing a tractor. The Police and Fire Service attended the scene along with a St John road Ambulance. On arrival of the helicopter at the scene the on-board St John Ambulance Intensive-Care Paramedic immediately prepared the patient for flight and continued to work on him throughout the airlift to Palmerston North Hospital where the patient arrived in a critical condition. The Rescue Helicopter was used for this mission due to the remote location of the accident scene, the serious nature of the injuries sustained and the high level of care able to be provided whilst en-route to hospital.
