Youth Bands to Rock Tahuna
Youth Bands to Rock Tahuna
Youth bands,
artists and performers will take the stage for a series of
summer time outdoor concerts at Tahunanui Beach. ‘Tahuna
Rocks’ hits the Tahunanui Youth Park ‘Woodstock Stage’
for two shows, on Friday 4 December 2015 and on Saturday 30
January 2016, between 5-9pm.
Organiser, Paul McConachie from Youth and Community Works says the first show coincides with the end of the school year.
“This is an excellent excuse to come out and celebrate the start of the summer holidays,” he says. “We have a really epic line up on stage and a heap of ‘have a go’ activities, along with some sweet prizes also up for grabs.”
McConachie says the show will open with an acoustic set from rising talent Josiah Samuels, belting out some favourite summer time anthems.
“Then as the sun sets, the party will crank up a notch or two as the region’s finest pop, rock, and punk bands storm the stage with Rekindled Pursuits (Motueka High School), Early 2000s (Motueka), Atom Flight (Marlborough Boys College), and Toxic Vain (Waimea College) to grace the stage. House DJ’s Sean Richards (Nelson Boys College) and Pav Boys (Blenheim) will close out the evening with bass pumping, toe tapping, foot stomping beats to get everyone up and dancing.”
Tahuna Rocks is a free youth event and is strictly alcohol and other drug free and aimed at 15-18 year olds. Security and H&S Event Workers will be on hand to ensure a happy and healthy event for all.
These events are made possible thanks to the Nelson City Council.
Should unseasonably bad weather be forecast, both events will be rescheduled to the following day - Saturday 5 December andSunday 31 January respectively.
