Spring volatility strikes Auckland
Stormy weekend
Spring
continues to deliver its usual volatile weather. Winds
gusting up to 128 km/h hit the region on Saturday and Sunday
causing tree branches to snap and debris to come down on
power lines.
Saturday night also saw a massive electrical storm hit the city, with over 1300 lightning strikes recorded for Auckland City. Lightning set a tree on fire in Conifer Grove and a roof in Albany.
The volatility continues over the week ahead with sunshine expected early in the week and rain moving in from Tuesday.
