Prince’s Gate arches turn red, white and blue for Paris

Rotorua Lakes Council has joined cities around New Zealand and the world, by lighting up an iconic city structure in red, white and blue – the colours of the French flag - to show support for the people of Paris following last weekend’s attack on the city by terrorists.

The lights will go on at the Prince's Gate Archway, at Government Gardens entrance, from tonight [17 November].

Rotorua mayor Steve Chadwick expressed her sympathy for the people of France and the local French community on behalf of all Rotorua citizens.

“We join in solidarity with our own French citizens living here, and we add our voice to those denouncing terrorism and senseless acts of violence.”

Red, white and blue lighting will remain on the Prince’s Gate Archway until December.
