Dress for Success Auckland Presents Cocktails in the City
AUCKLAND – 28 October 2015 – Dress for Success Auckland is pleased to present Cocktails in the City, a benefit to change the lives of women through professional work attire, styling, confidence and career advice.
Held on 4 November at the fabulous St. Matthew-in-the-City cathedral, the event will feature the DJ duo The Sweet Mix Kids as well as inspirational talks from two leading ladies – Dr Jackie Blue, theEqual Employment Opportunities Commissioner, and Sarikha Rosli, recent TEDxWaiheke speaker and author of The Knocked up Stripper.
Both speakers will tackle the subject of women participating in society in their own unique ways.
All funds raised go towards helping 1500 Auckland women and their families to regain financial independence.
Dress for Success Auckland is happy to announce that tickets for their evening cocktail party are selling out fast.
“Cocktails in the City is going to be our biggest event this year,” said Lani French, Executive Director, Dress for Success Auckland. “Ticket sales are going fast, which is great because we invest everything back into the women we help secure employment.”
“Fundraising is really important to us as we actually don’t receive government funding – we fall between the cracks because we don’t physically place women in employment. But we’re instrumental in giving them the skills and confidence to win and keep a job.”
Dress for Success Auckland supports nearly 1500 women seeking employment each year by providing interview attire, career support, and employment retention advice.
“Of the 1500 women we see each year, 72 percent find employment. That’s a stunning figure – but it will only increase if we have the money to help those in need. While we have some strong partnerships, all of our funding comes from community grants, corporate partners, and private donations,” added French.
Cocktails in the City will serve up beautiful cocktails and canapes amidst the stunning surrounds and sounds of the evening. A premium auction featuring luxury holidays at The Eagles Nest in Russell and Millbrook resort in Queenstown, will complement a red carpet photo lounge, wishing tree and gift bags valued at more than the cost of the ticket price.
