SCIRT traffic update: Week starting Monday, 26 October, 2015
PROGRESS
• The residents of Aranui and Wainoni are celebrating the opening of the section of Pages Rd from Cowles Stadium to Breezes Rd which happened on Friday 23 October. It’s been one-way towards the city for much of the past 10 months. Pages Rd between Bexley Reserve and Breezes Rd remains one-way southbound.
• Earlier in the week another main thoroughfare, Breezes Rd, opened to two-way traffic between Pages Rd and Wainoni Rd after more than 4 months one-way.
MAIN ROADS – Works are starting or underway
Expect delays during peak times and consider other routes
• Barbadoes St will be one-way southbound from Tuesday 27 October between Bealey Ave and Canon St for about 8 weeks.
• Papanui Rd near the Bealey Ave intersection, the section betweenClare Rd and Derby St, will have two-way traffic maintained and has bus lane and cycle lane closures from Tuesday 27 October. The restrictions last for about 6 weeks. Please take care around merging cyclists.
• Papanui Rd – between Innes Rd and Murray Pl has two-way traffic maintained and bus lane and cycle lane closures, lane shifts and turning restrictions at the Innes Rd and Papanui Rd intersection. This remains untilFriday October 30 while reinstatement work is finished.
• Marshland Rd between The Palms and 123 Marshland Rd has road repairs until the end of November. Two-way traffic is maintained. Reduced lanes may cause delays.
• Ferry Rd has works between Smith St and Tilford St until about the end of November. Two-way traffic is maintained and there are temporary lane shifts and shoulder closures.
• Ferry Rd also has works from Ensors Rd to Osborne St from Tuesday 27 October. Expect delays at peak times.
• Fitzgerald Ave has reduced lanes southbound between St Asaph St and Ferry Rd for the next 2 weeks.
• Manchester St is one-way southbound between Hereford St and Lichfield St.
• Moorhouse Ave Bridge is down to one lane each side.

Fendalton - major wastewater works are starting in Holmwood Rd and Garden Rd.
• Holmwood Rd will close from Tuesday 27 October for 3 weeks for reconnection of individual properties’ lateral pipes to a new main wastewater pipe.
• Garden Rd will close from Tuesday 27 October for about 18 weeks for wastewater repairs. The repairs are in 3 stages of about 6 weeks each.
Beach Rd, New Brighton – major wastewater works underway
• Beach Rd has a progressive road closure. The crew is still working outside the shops at Bower Ave and will progress for 3 months towards Effingham St.
• Next week work will be underway in the Beach Rd/Bower Ave roundabout. Temporary traffic lights will be in place for about one week. The closure along Beach Road between Frosts Rd and Ascot Ave will progress over 9 months. Please look out for changes and detours.
Aranui/Wainoni
Please take extra care around this busy area as SCIRT installs a new resilient vacuum wastewater system for this community. See the Aranui map for bus routes and detours.
• Merrington Cres is one-way (towards Marlow Rd).
• Marlow Rd remains one-way from Doreen St to Pages Rd for road repairs.
• Eureka St has a progressive road closure between 3 Eureka St and Cheriton St until the end of October.
• Portsmouth St’s current road closure between Basingstoke St and Wainoni Rd will remain in place until Friday 30 October. From Thursday 29 October there will be works in the intersection of Portsmouth St and Wainoni Rd for about 2 weeks. Two-way traffic on Wainoni Rd will be maintained.
• Carisbrooke St is one-way between Winchfield St and the end of the cul-de-sac for about 4 weeks.
• Pages Rd has re-opened to two-way traffic between Cowles Stadium and Breezes Rd.
• Breezes Rd has re-opened to two-way traffic between Wainoni Rd and Pages Rd.
The Yellow bus detour is now along Marlow Rd but please visit the Metro website www.metroinfo.org.nz or phone Metro Info on 366 8855 for any bus service changes.
Work in other suburbs
Redcliffs
• Moncks Spur has temporary traffic lights at the start of the worksite to minimise disruption and maintain two-way traffic.
• Glenstrae Rd has retaining wall repairs for about 5 months. Two-way traffic will be maintained from numbers 15 to 35 at the second uphill hairpin bend using temporary traffic lights.
Mt Pleasant
• A section on lower Mt Pleasant Rd (between Seamount Tce and Billys Track) is now one-way to downhill traffic only. Detour via Major Hornbrook Rd or Soleares Ave.
Cashmere
• Kidson Terrace is going to be one-way heading north from Monday 2 November for about 4 months.
Parklands
• Pegasus Ave is closed between Philomel St and Endeavour St for road renewal.
• Ascot Dr is closed between properties 9-37 from next week.
• Lamorna Rd has a progressive road closure for about 7 more weeks between Queenspark Dr and Foresters Cres.
• Forrest Dr has a progressive road closure between 23 Forrest Dr and Broadhaven Ave for 5 more weeks.
• Queenspark Dr will have a road closure in the coming week between no 201 and Chadlington St for about 2 weeks.
Burwood
• New Brighton Rd between Lake Terrace Rd and 221 New Brighton Rd St is one lane with temporary traffic lights to maintain two-way traffic flow. Stop/go traffic management is in place at peak times.
• New Brighton Rd - Lake Terrace Rd intersection is closed. Access is via Burwood Rd.
Bromley
• Wickham Street is one way westbound from the Dyers Road intersection to number 14.
Edgeware / St Albans
• Edgeware Rd between Sherborne St and Bishop St is one-way eastbound for about 3 months. There’s a short detour to the local Edgeware - St Albans businesses affected by these works.
• Bishop St is one-way for southbound traffic between Edgeware Rd and Canon St from mid-October for about 2 months. Suggested detour is Madras St.
Merivale
• Carlton Mill Bridge repairs continue at the Harper Ave, Park Tce and Carlton Mill Rd intersection for about 3 more weeks. Two-way traffic remains but there are detours for pedestrians. Please follow the signage.
Shirley
• Hills Rd (between Guild St and Dudley St) is one-way northbound. Southbound traffic please slow down along the detour, and heavy traffic please take a different route.
• Dudley St is closed from Slater St to Hills Rd.
Linwood
• Worcester St is closed between Woodham Rd and Dacre St, and is one-way southbound towards Linwood Ave between Dacre St and Linwood Ave.
• Woodham Rd is one-way city bound between Kerrs Rd and Gloucester St. Eastbound traffic please follow the detour.
Woolston
• Smith St has a progressive road closure until early 2016.
Addington
• Selwyn St between Harman St and Poulson St will be one-way northbound towards Moorhouse Ave for about 4 weeks.
