Information Sought on Dog Taken Illegally From Pound

A Siberian Husky dog taken illegally from the Thames Council Dog Pound last month is still unaccounted for.
On the evening of Sunday 6 September someone forced entry into the pound and removed a 3-year-old, cream and tan coloured female Husky dog, known as "Sky".
"The dog was being held pending prosecution for allegedly attacking and killing lambs and sheep in the Kauaeranga Valley area, says Steve Hart, Council Bylaws and Compliance Team Leader. "We understand the dog was selectively taken as there were 9 dogs in the pound at the time and the Husky was the only one removed."
Considerable security improvements, along with additional monitoring of the pound after hours, have now been completed.
"We have been also been in contact with the dog's owner about the situation," says Mr Hart. "We need to have the dog recovered and we're asking the public to help us with its whereabouts," says Mr Hart. "Any calls or information will be taken in confidence."
Anyone with information should contact the Thames Police 07 8679600 or call our Council 07 868 0200.
