Upper Cuba Street road works
Wellington Water is renewing the stormwater and wastewater pipes in upper Cuba Street (from 285 Cuba Street to the intersection of Cuba Street and Abel Smith Street) from Monday 19 October 2015.
Work will be carried out in two distinct stages:
• Monday 19 October to Monday 30 November 2015 – stormwater pipe work
• Monday 11 January 2016 to end-February 2016 – wastewater pipe work
Hours of work will be 9am – 4pm, Monday to Friday and 7am – 6pm Saturdays.
On-street parking will be affected. There may be some delay for traffic passing through the worksite during working hours and traffic management will be in place throughout the construction period. There will be a lane closure with a detour in place.
The first stage of the work is to replace the existing stormwater pipe which has reached the end of its life and is being replaced by a larger diameter pipe.
In the New Year, we’ll be renewing the wastewater pipe to help reduce the amount of contamination getting into the stormwater system. This is an important job as leaking wastewater pipes can have significant environmental impacts.
During the Christmas – New Year period (1 December – 10 January 2016), the work site will be returned to full normal use.
More information is available by calling Wellington Water on 04 912 4400.
