Christchurch woman’s wish is muffin maker’s command
Rebecca Taylor’s love for one of New Zealand’s favourite spreads has paid off for the Christchurch local.
The 29 year old’s ‘Mitey Cheese’ muffin has won her $500 and the honour of having her recipe featured in 41 Muffin Break bakery cafés throughout New Zealand.
With the help of Ms Taylor’s Kiwi ingenuity, Muffin Break continues to reinvent new muffin flavours, as a part of the Muffin Lab range which launched at the beginning of 2015 bringing limited edition, freshly baked muffins to stores nationwide.
Ms Taylor’s ‘Mitey Cheese’ flavour suggestion is featured in-store this month.
A visitor host at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Rebecca came up with the flavour idea when she saw the ‘Suggest-A-Flavour’ competition and was inspired to combine some of her favourite baking ingredients.
“It’s really exciting to see my Mitey Cheese flavour suggestion included in Muffin Break stores in Christchurch, as well as up and down the country,” says Rebecca. “I hope Kiwis enjoy the mix of flavours as much as I do.”
Through Muffin Break’s Muffin Lab – Suggest-A-Flavour competition’, Kiwis nationwide showed their flair by suggesting wackily creative muffin flavours. The top flavours received a $500 cash card.
The competition closed in July 2015 and Ms Taylor’s Mitey Cheese flavour was chosen as the best overall flavour and is now available in all Muffin Break stores New Zealand-wide from the month of October. .
Muffin Break’s Muffin Lab releases new flavours to customers every month including such intriguing flavours as the Mitey Cheese, Chocolate with Salted Caramel and the popular Duffin.
All suggested muffins are rigorously tested by the Muffin Break master muffin makers for creativity and flavour.
Muffin Break marketing manager Gemma Fitzsimons says the company has been inspired to see the fun and interesting flavours Kiwi cooks have been able to dream up.
“We have worked hard to make sure the Muffin Lab produces muffins that are not just delicious, but also fun and interesting, experimental. We draw inspiration for our muffin flavours from a variety of places including directly from our customers, so there’s always something to suit all tastes.”
The Muffin Break Mitey Cheese muffin has an RRP of $5 and is available only until November 1, 2015.
