ICT Grad School will fuel growth in Wellington
The New Zealand Government announced today the Wellington ICT Graduate School, scheduled to open in 2016, would be a partnership between Victoria University, Wellington Institute of Technology and Whitireia Polytechnic, with involvement from Wellington ICT businesses and technology leaders.
Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency Chief Executive Chris Whelan said the School’s graduates would help fuel growth across a range of industries in the region.
"ICT skills are increasingly important for business growth and the Graduate School will help build the pipeline of talent available for all businesses."
"Wellington is the high tech capital of New Zealand, with the highest concentration of web and digital-based companies in the country. The ICT Graduate School will offer continued development for our best and brightest and also help us attract new talent to the region and country."
The first courses to be offered by the School include a Master of Software Development and a Master of Information Technology, designed for people already working in the ICT sector.
"We look forward to connecting local businesses with the School to help develop qualifications, research and sponsorship partnerships," said Mr Whelan.
