HUNDREDS OF MAGICIANS TO APPEAR AT JAMES COOK HOTEL GRAND CHANCELLOR

Hundreds of Magicians will appear at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor for the inaugural Wellington Magic Convention, a three day event being hosted at the hotel this Labour Weekend.

As a partner of the Wellington Magic Club, the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is proud to support and host this event, the first ever convention held by the Wellington Magic Club.

It has the biggest lineup of guest magicians a New Zealand convention has ever had. “The club are flying in eight world leading magicians to Wellington for the event, each of whom are a master of their own discipline” says the show’s organiser, and president of the Wellington Magic Club, Nopera Whitley. “All up, the convention is expecting to attract over 150 magicians to Wellington over the long weekend” comments Whitley.

The public will also get a chance to see the headlining magicians perform at two shows at the Wellington Opera House on the 24th of October.

Magicians in the Capital, featuring six of the international guest magicians, is shaping up to be the biggest magic show Wellington has ever seen. The 2 hour long show will be a great chance for Wellingtonians to see some world class magicians performing in their own backyard. The show will be hosted by Canada’s leading comedian magician, David Merry, who was a joke writer for Joan Rivers and Jay Leno.

Pure Magic, is a family magic show hosted by Wellington’s favourite children entertainer, Zappo the Magician. This afternoon show is aimed at children aged 4 – 11 and features three other international magicians including one of America’s best children entertainers, Mike Bent, and award winning street magician, Nick Nickolas.

The Wellington Magic Club was formed in 2012 with the aim to encourage the pursuit of magic as a performing art and to raise the profile of magic in Wellington. The club has approximately 30 members of all ages and skill levels, and they meet on a monthly basis to learn, teach and perform magic.
