Water Rescue - Bucklands Beach Howick
At 0815am this morning Police Maritime Unit were called to a water rescue at Bucklands Beach just off The Parade Howick. A witness reported seeing two persons in the water calling for help.
A local boaty was on scene quickly and picked up the two persons and returned them to the shore line, safe but cold. A father and his 8 year old son had been fishing from their two person kayak when a large wave tipped them out into the ocean.
They were unable to get back into the kayak and were drifting with the tide before being uplifted. They were only in the water for around 20 minutes.
