SCIRT traffic update: Week starting Monday, 5 October, 2015


Edgeware Rd - Sherborne St intersection closed to southbound traffic – please use detours

• More water main leaks have closed this busy intersection for several days to traffic heading south towards the city.
• Commuters on Cranford St are being detoured into Berwick St, to Warrington St, then Forfar St, Madras St then into Canon St and back to Sherborne St or they can make their way to Barbadoes St to head into the CBD.

Marine Parade, New Brighton – night works, road closures
• Locals and commuters will have road closures at night and turning restrictions on sections of Marine Parade over the next 2 months.
• CCTV investigation and pipe lining of the wastewater main pipe is starting between 7pm and 6am.
• The work will be in 3 sections. Section 1 is Beach Rd to Pandora St, section 2 is Pandora to Pacific Rd, and section 3 is Pacific Rd to Effingham St.


Beach Rd, New Brighton – major works starting so plan your route
Major repairs are starting on the earthquake-damaged wastewater main pipe.
Beach Rd will have a progressive road closure for about 3 weeks between Frosts Rd and Donnington St which started on Tuesday 29 September. The closures will then move towards Bower Ave.
• Work will be underway for 9 months along Beach Rd with several sections being worked on.
SCIRT’s Fletcher team ask commuters to please keep an eye out for traffic changes and detours and thanks you for your patience during this large repair project.

SCIRT in the Central City – expect delays and avoid during peak times
. Fitzgerald Ave has reduced lanes between Gloucester and Worcester Sts and between St Asaph St and Ferry Rd for the next four weeks. Please consider alternatives at peak times.
Manchester St is southbound only between Gloucester and Hereford Sts.

Aranui/Wainoni
Please take extra care around this busy area as SCIRT installs a new resilient wastewater system for this community. See the Aranui map for bus routes and detours.

Rowan Ave is due to re-open to two-way traffic after sealing of the section between Pages Rd and Carisbrooke St is finished. The progressive road closure from Carisbrooke towards Eureka St continues for about 3 weeks.
Merrington Cres is one-way (towards Marlow Rd).
Pages Rd is one-way towards the city from Bexley Reserve to Shuttle Dr. The section between Shuttle Dr and Shortland St is due to open to two-way traffic soon.
• The south side of the Pages Rd/Rowan Ave intersection is closed for about 6 weeks.
Breezes Rd is one-way between Wainoni and Pages Rds but due to go back to two-way soon. Please watch for pedestrians, cyclists and children by the two schools on Breezes Rd.
Marlow Rd remains one-way from Doreen St to Pages Rd for road repairs.
Eureka St is one-way northbound from Soberton St to Brockenhurst St.
• Closure of Portsmouth St between Aldershot St and Basingstoke St for about 2 weeks.
Sandown Cres has a progressive road closure from the northern endmoving south.
Carisbrooke St is currently one-way from Portchester to Warblington St.
• Rolling road closure on Mattingley St starting from Porchester St from 28 September for about a week.
Rowses Rd is one way between Shortland St and Tomrich St.
• Rolling road closure on Corhampton St starting at Porchester St expected to start on Wednesday 7 October for 3 weeks.

The Yellow bus detour is now along Marlow Rd but please visit the Metro websitewww.metroinfo.org.nz or phone Metro Info on 366 8855 for any bus service changes.

Work in other suburbs

Parklands
Pegasus Ave is one way northbound between Philomel St and Endeavour St until mid-October.
Lamorna Rd will have a progressive road closure for about 9 more weeks between Queenspark Dr and Foresters Cres.
Chadbury St has a temporary road closure for about 2 weeks during the school holidays.
Forrest Dr has a progressive road closure between No 23 Forrest Dr and Broadhaven Ave for 5 more weeks.
Endeavour Street will have a temporary road closure from Monday 5 October for wastewater repair for about 4 weeks.

Burwood
Cossar St is one-way heading east.
New Brighton Rd between Lake Terrace Rd and Bassett is one lane with temporary traffic lights to maintain two-way traffic flow.

Edgeware / St Albans
Colombo St (between Canon St and Edgeware Rd) Two-way traffic is maintained and lane shifts and shoulder closures are in place. Repairs continue until early-October so watch for changing traffic conditions.
Edgeware Rd between Sherborne St and Manchester St is one-way eastbound for about 3 months. There’s a short detour to the local Edgeware / St Albans businesses affected by these works. Please be a rebuild hero and make the extra effort to support your local businesses.

Fendalton
• There is no entry from Fendalton Rd to Holmwood Rd for about 2 months. Holmwood Rd traffic can still enter Fendalton Rd. No right turn is available on Queens Ave or Garden Rd. Suggested detour is Wairarapa Tce and Garden Rd.

Strowan
Wai-iti Tce is one-way between Bryndwr and Clyde Rds for a month. Suggested detour is Ilam Rd.

Merivale
Carlton Mill bridge repairs ongoing at the Harper Ave, Park Tce and Carlton Mill Rd intersection for about 2 more months. Two-way traffic remains but reduced lanes may cause delays. Look out for pedestrians and cyclists.
Helmores Lane Bridge repairs ongoing. The bridge is closed to pedestrians and cyclists. Please use the new Carlton Mill Footbridge.
Papanui Rd – between Clare Rd and Derby St, the work site has been uplifted and the next section of work will start in November.
Papanui Rd – between Innes Rd and Murray Pl will have two-way traffic maintained but will have bus lane and cycle lane closures, lane shifts and turning restrictions at Innes Rd and Papanui Rd intersection. No right turn from Papanui Rd into Murray Pl.

Shirley
• No exit from Petrie St on to Shirley Rd for about 4 weeks. Only westbound traffic on Shirley Rd can enter Petrie St.
Hills Rd (between Guild St and Dudley St) is one-way northbound. Southbound traffic please slow down along the detour – heavy traffic please take a different route.
Dudley St is closed from Slater St to Hills Rd.

Linwood
Worcester St is closed between Woodham Rd and Dacre St, and is one-way southbound (towards Linwood Ave) between Dacre St and Linwood Ave.
Woodham Rd is one-way city bound between Kerrs Rd and Gloucester St. Eastbound traffic please follow the detour route. Please watch for cyclists.

Woolston
Smith St has a temporary progressive road closure in place until early 2016.
Matlock St traffic can’t enter / exit Smith St until mid-October. Please be on the lookout for changes.

Addington
• Works continue on Selwyn St (between Brougham St and Ward St) for around 1 week. Two-way traffic will remain but watch for cyclists. No on-street parking.
Harman Street between Grove Road and 71 Harman Street will be one-way westbound for about 2 weeks. Detour is Hazeldean Road and Selwyn Street.

Spreydon & Somerfield
Barrington Street remains one-way northbound (towards the city). Southbound remains closed between Stanbury Avenue and Rose Street.
Rose St and Barrington St intersection will be closed for 3 weeks.

Hoon Hay
. Marhyhill Ave is closed from the intersection of Wyn St and Maryhill Ave to no 16 Maryhill Ave from Monday 28 September and that continues for about 3 weeks. Detour please through Gainsborough St or Sparks Rd.


Mt Pleasant
• A section on lower Mt Pleasant Rd (between Seamount Tce and Billy’s Track) will be closed for about 5 weeks from Monday 28 September. Detour via Major Hornbrook Rd or Soleares Ave.
