Man injured while splitting wood
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Piropiro Flats Campground, South of Benneydale, this afternoon to transport a 37 year old Hamilton man.
The man mad suffered a leg injury while splitting wood. 'The man has sustained a laceration to his leg after splitting wood,’ said Pilot Dan Harcourt. The man was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further treatment. The helicopter was essential due to the remoteness of the location and the severity of the injury.
