2015 Canterbury Champion Charity are delighted
The team at Kilmarnock Enterprises are overwhelmed to have been named the 2015 winner of the Champion Charity Large Enterprise category at this year’s Champion Canterbury Business Awards.
Kilmarnock is a social enterprise which leverages business excellence as a contract manufacturer to provide a unique and enriching work environment, empowering people with an intellectual disability to see their value and pursue their dreams.
CEO Michelle Sharp would like to acknowledge the other finalists and the incredible contributions they make to Canterbury.
“We feel honoured to be in such remarkable company with Canterbury Youth Development Programme, Ronald McDonald House, and SPCA Canterbury. At the end of the day we are all winners. Each one of us works very hard to make our communities a better place. For Kilmarnock this is not so much a victory as it is reinforcement that the work we are doing is heading in the right direction.”
As the 2014 winner of the ACC Workplace Safety category, Kilmarnock really appreciates the opportunity to be included in the prestigious business awards.
Sharp believes the best way to change attitudes about disability is to show the community how much can be achieved when you focus on abilities. “What Kilmarnock does, is offer a great example of how a commercially sustainable organisation, with the help of its community, can deliver real and tangible social outcomes.
