Auckland Council waives fee for school
Auckland Council has confirmed it will waive the $90 event permit fee for Pt Chevalier Primary School’s end of year
picnic at Coyle Park, and says it will be bringing forward its planned review of its event permit fee structure.
This review will look at low impact activities in public places, used by community groups.
“We fully intended to review the fee structure after a year however that review has been brought forward as a result of
recent feedback from Aucklanders. Until that review is complete we will use our discretion when judging event permit
applications from school groups for use of public parks,” Graham Bodman, General Manager of Community Development, Arts
and Culture, says.
“Great parks and spaces are important to Aucklanders, and so is being physically active and enjoying the outdoors,” says
Councillor Christine Fletcher, who is also chair of the Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee.
“We want to encourage all Aucklanders to use our network of parks across the region without impediment. This is critical
to our Auckland Plan goal of promoting active and healthy lifestyles to all Aucklanders, and we know that Aucklanders
value these resources hugely. The key challenge is to achieve the right balance between making our parks fully
accessible to communities, while recovering the cost to ratepayers through appropriate charging for commercial events.”
