Northwest Shopping Centre set to be the new community hub of Westgate
NorthWest Shopping Centre opens its doors to the public on Thursday 1 October. New Zealand’s latest shopping centre is the equivalent of four rugby fields in size and forms the heart of the new Westgate Town Centre, part of Auckland’s Northwest Transformation; the largest transformation project in the country.
NorthWest Shopping Centre owners and developers DNZ Property Fund describes the centre as ‘a community hub’, a place for shoppers and families to visit for the very latest retail experience.
The $155 million shopping centre described as the ‘next generation’ of shopping centres in design and retail offering, will have almost 100 retail stores including anchor tenants Farmers and Countdown, with iconic Kiwi and Australian brands, Glassons, Barkers, Max, Hannahs and an extensive jewellery offering. It also boasts the latest design food court making the best use of natural light and reflecting the west’s natural surroundings.
“The shopping centre has a contemporary design reflecting what the west has to offer, with wall and floor tiles depicting black washed up sand and a concrete rendered wall and natural timbers on the centres’ ceiling,” Centre Manager Jennifer Andrews says.
“To cater to mothers and caregivers we’ve designed two parents rooms that are colourful and playful, equipped with everything needed for young babies, toddlers and their carers,” she says.
“The NorthWest Shopping Centre development has been 18 months in the making with construction on schedule and we’re excited to be opening the doors soon on what will be New Zealand’s newest contemporary shopping centre,” Jennifer Andrews says.
