Single lane for Russley Road/ Memorial Ave

Single lane for Russley Road/ Memorial Ave (Airport) roundabout at nights/ off peak hours

As part of Christchurch’s Russley Road capital works, the NZ Transport Agency will be reducing the Memorial Ave roundabout to a single lane at nights, to install services.

This work will start this Sunday night, 13 September, through to Fridaymorning, 2 October. The roundabout, which is the entrance to Christchurch International Airport, will not be reduced on Friday or Saturday nights.

• The roundabout will be reduced to one lane between 6.30pm and 5.30am but not on Friday and Saturday nights ie outside peak hours.

• All standard sized trucks, HPMV vehicles, 50MAX vehicles and cars will be able to use the roundabout.

Over-dimension vehicles (and loads) in excess of three metres wide may not fit through.

• Crews have a back-up plan if an over-dimension vehicle makes it to the roundabout, however taking the detour is the preferred option to avoid delays to everyone on the road.

Any over-dimension load drivers planning to drive along State highway 1 (Russley Road / Memorial Avenue roundabout) will need to re-route along this detour route:

Detour for loads wider than three metres: SH1 Sawyers Arms Rd – Logistics Drive – McLeans Island Rd – Pound Rd – onto SH73 (Yaldhurst Rd) or vice versa.
