"Police seek information relating to stolen caravan"
Canterbury Police are appealing for the public's help to locate a $90,000 seven meter long white Leisure Line caravan,
registration U441L, that was stolen from a commercial yard in Sockburn on 15 August 2015 shortly after 5.30pm.
Detective Amy Marshall says "A witness reported that two men cut a padlock on the gate to gain access to the area where
the caravan was located. Police understand the men then hitched up the caravan and drove it out of the yard stopping to
replace the padlock before driving off in a southerly direction from Sockburn roundabout. The CCTV image shows the
vehicle driving away towing the caravan."
"The vehicle used to tow the caravan is described as a silver Commodore Ute possibly a 2004-2006 model. It is possible
that the registration plates on the caravan may have been changed. Police are working with the victim and their insurer
to locate the caravan and those responsible for its theft" explained Detective Marshall.
Lumley Insurance are offering a reward for information that leads to the recovery of the caravan or the identity of the
two men and the silver Holden used in this theft. An image of a caravan similar to the one stolen is attached to this
release.
Canterbury Police urge anyone who can help locate this caravan or the two men and vehicle involved to call Christchurch
Central Police Station on 03 363 7400.
