Nominations for Civic Honours close soon
Nominations for Horowhenua's Civic Honours Awards close on Friday 25 September.
The Awards recognise outstanding voluntary service by individuals and also community groups.
Categories include Community Affairs; Social Affairs/Services, Cultural Affairs, Youth Affairs, Recreation and Sport, Educational Services, Religious Affairs, and Conservation.
Horowhenua District Mayor Brendan Duffy says the awards recognise local people and groups that have provided outstanding voluntary service and made a positive impact to the community.
"Throughout our District there are many of these extraordinary people - unsung heroes of our community, working tirelessly behind the scenes as members of local, groups, societies and other organisations," Mayor Duffy said.
"Being able to recognise the valuable contribution by these people and present them with a Civic Honour really is one of my favourite and most satisfying duties as District Mayor."
The Civic Honours Awards special judging panel includes Mayor Duffy and three Horowhenua District Councillors.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 25 September and the Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday 17 November at Te Takere in Levin.
