Fatal fire victims named
Police has released the names of the two victims who died tragically during a house fire in Exeter Crescent, Palmerston North early on Thursday.
They were Eunice FELTON, aged 6 years, and her grandmother, Bessie Tehuia TOKONA, aged 61 years.
Detective Inspector Ross McKay of Central District CIB said Police's thoughts were with the family, who had asked for privacy as they continued to grieve.
"Our deepest sympathies go to Eunice and Bessie's family at this tragic time, and we are continuing to offer them the appropriate support."
Mr McKay said Police and Fire investigators had now completed the scene examination, which confirmed that the fire started in the kitchen area, but was not believed to be suspicious.
The deaths have been referred to the Coroner.
