Ruapehu District Council appoints Clive Manley as new Chief
Executive Officer
Clive Manley has been named as
the new Chief Executive Officer of Ruapehu District Council
(RDC), following an extensive recruitment process.
RDC Mayor Don Cameron said the council was delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Manley, who has 25 years’ leadership experience in private, central and local government organisations, including as CEO of Far North District Council.
“Mr Manley was selected from a very strong field of more than 50 candidates,” said Mr Cameron.
“He brings extensive skills in strategic, financial, regulatory and operational management to the role, together with strong experience in leading regional social development and lifting performance.
“This will be invaluable in delivering our key focuses, including driving economic and community development across the district.”
Mr Manley gained a degree in civil engineering from Strathclyde University in Scotland and began his career as an engineer before entering the local government sector with the then Auckland City Council.
He successfully led Far North District Council from 1999-2008, and from 2009-2010 was responsible for regional social development as Northland Regional Commissioner for the Ministry of Social Development.
From 2010-2015 he was Director – Civil Defence and Emergency Management for Auckland Council and was director of the Council’s Executive Lead Team during the period of extensive change following formation of the new Authority.
He is also internationally recognised for his expertise in crisis management.
He has been seconded to the Prime Minister’s office on a number of occasions to assist local authorities in post disaster recovery – most recently in Christchurch in 2011.
Mr Manley, will take up the position in late October/early November following the retirement of current CEO Peter Till.
