Recovery operation launched following potential body sighting in Waikato River
Hamilton Police are currently conducting a recovery operation on the Waikato River following a report from the public of a potential body being sighted in the water.
Senior Sergeant Damion Rangitutia of the Waikato District Command Centre said a member of the public called Police in relation to what appears to be a body floating north in the Waikato River near Comries Ave.
“The Police rescue boat has been launched and is currently at the scene in the vicinity of Swarbrick Landing conducting a recovery operation.
“The operation has necessitated a closure of the walkway on the east side of the Waikato River.”
