Consultation opens on proposed ward and community board changes
Consultation has opened on city-wide changes to ward and community board boundaries ahead of next year’s city council elections.
The proposed changes are part of the six-yearly representation review, which looks at councillor numbers and ward and community board boundaries.
The Council’s initial proposal suggests merging Bank Peninsula with Sumner in a new ward called Banks Peninsula-Sumner, and raising the number of wards and councillors from 13 to 16.
Residents can use the online property search tool to find out their current ward and community board and compare it with what the Council is proposing.
The public can comment on the proposal until 5pm on Friday 9 October and can submit online. Submitters can also ask to speak to the Council in person during the hearings in late October.
