Mission One:
At approximately midday Sunday Life Flight received an urgent call out to Colonial Knob walkway near Porirua to a female patient in her 20’s who had sustained injuries after being thrown from her horse.
The team responded in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
According to bystanders the horse was startled by a mountain biker and she was thrown on to the track. The helicopter was able to land nearby. The patient was treated at the scene and then flown to Wellington Hospital’s Emergency Department for further treatment.

The Life Flight team picked up a park ranger en-route who knew the exact location of the patient.
The hut was found soon after and the helicopter landed and off-loaded the paramedic and the ranger who made a short walk to the hut.
