Voon’s designer onesie raises funds for Wellington Free Ambulance
Wellington designer, Sophie Voon is getting on board to help raise funds for Wellington Free Ambulance this Onesie Day, 11 September, by creating a one off designer onesie for auction.
The bespoke onesie (jumpsuit) goes on display in her Willis Street shop, and will be up for auction on Trade Me today, 31 August.
Wellington Free Ambulance head of fundraising and communications, Diane Livingston, says it’s a very generous and exciting contribution to the Onesie Day campaign.
“I approached Sophie because she is a proud local, and I really admire her work. I couldn’t have been more delighted when she said yes!” she says.
The special onesie is crafted from 100% cotton Amy Butler fabric. Sophie says she chose it partly because it is so pretty, but also because the colours are ambulance colours and “just happen to be very on trend” this summer.
Diane says it’s beautiful, and if people want to have a piece of it they’d better be quick.
“I love it and will likely be bidding myself, “says Diane. “A fluffy onesie is all well and good for lots of people, but I rather like the look of this one.”
And why the Onesie Day?
Because Wellington Free Ambulance is the one and only paramedic service for Greater Wellington, and the only one in the country that’s free. They are ‘The Ones. 111.’
“We’re the ones here for you, and you’re the ones whose support makes it all possible. It’s just a lovely play on words,” Diane Livingston says.
The money collected during the Onesie Day annual appeal helps to keep Wellington Free Ambulances vital services right here in the community.
To bid for the Sophie Voon onesie go to trade.me/wfa (this will be live by midday today, August 31).
