Short delays on SH29 Tauranga this month
The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists to expect short delays on SH29 Tauranga from Monday August 31 as contractors begin removing the old Route K toll plaza.
Traffic management and speed restrictions of 30km/h and 50km/h will be in place over the next nine weeks while the work is completed.
The toll plaza was replaced by a new electronic toll gantry in July.
Speed restrictions and stop/go traffic management will be in place on roads around the Bay of Plenty this month as work on a major road safety improvement programme and other projects continue.
Areas where motorists can expect changes or delays of more than five minutes are detailed below to allow people to plan ahead when travelling.
SH29A Tauranga - Maungatapu underpass project
A 50km/h speed restriction, diversions and lane closures will be in place for the next few weeks while contractors clear vegetation and carry out other work in preparation for the construction of the Maungatapu underpass.
The work will be carried out on weekdays between the hours of 9am and 4pm to minimise disruption to traffic.
SH2 Tauranga to Waihi Safety Improvements

Contractors will be working on nine sites on the route and motorists are advised to allow an extra 10 minutes when travelling on this route. The work is expected to be complete by late September.
