Police investigate possible serious assault
28/8/2015 Detectives in Hamilton are investigating whether a serious assault may have taken place, after the discovery of a quantity of human blood behind the Activate Church, in Bisley Road, Hamilton East. Detective Sergeant Andrew Mortimore said “Police were first called at about 3:30pm on Thursday.
Inquiries to date have established that the blood was there at 11am Thursday when the facilities were used by an external group for a function.” At this time, the investigation has not been able to identify any possible victims. Detective Sergeant Mortimore went on to say “The scene and presence of blood is indicative of a serious assault, and Police are appealing for any information that will assist in identifying a potential victim, or suspicious activity in and around the area.
We are obviously concerned for the safety and well being of any potential victim and are looking for any witnesses to an assault or suspicious activity in the area.” Those with information can contact the Hamilton Police at 858 6200, or if they prefer, anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or e-mail www.crimestoppers-nz.org.
