Rising star to sing for the Coromandel
One of New Zealand’s rising stars on the music scene Estère, is playing at a fundraising event next Thursday for a
Coromandel community group working to stop gold mining.
The fundraiser is at Revelry, 106 Ponsonby Road, doors opening at 7pm on Thursday 3rd September.
The group, Coromandel Watchdog, has been going for over 35 years and says gold mining threatens the health and beauty of
the lands and waters of the Coromandel, the very things that make it such a wonderful place to live and visit.
Estère, whose pulsating rhythms and evocative melodies she calls Electric Blue Witch Hop are taking her all over the
globe, says “New Zealand is extremely precious and the only way to protect it is to fight against its exploitation.”
“Watchdog in the Coromandel has been setting an example for all of us, by defending the glorious natural landscapes of
the Coromandel against the toxic gold mining industry. I'm 100% behind them- go Watchdog!”
The night will also include performances from other accomplished musicians and Djs, including Sunny Ray, R.I.A and Chica
Licorica.
