Free Rotorua concert by National Boys Choir of Australia

Rotorua residents are in for a musical treat next month [September] when the acclaimed National Boys Choir of Australia performs in the city. And for Rotorua residents the news gets even better as the concert will be a free community event.

The choir will perform their only Rotorua concert on Friday 25 September at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre.

Music lovers of all ages will enjoy the rare opportunity of a fully-staged and costumed performance of Benjamin Britten’s The Golden Vanity.

National Boys Choir of Australia Choir director Peter Casey says The Golden Vanity is a rarely performed short opera which was composed in 1966 and is based on a traditional folk song.

The concert is at 7.30pm on 25 September and while entrance is free, seats will need to be booked in advance. Bookings are being taken now at the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre ticket office or by telephone on 07 349 5142.
