ZEALANDIA Hosting Fenced Sanctuaries Summit
Wellington, NZ –– This week ZEALANDIA will be hosting a fenced sanctuaries conference, bringing together the leaders of seven of New Zealand’s fenced sanctuaries along with Department of Conservation representatives.
Minister of Conservation, Hon. Maggie Barry, will be officially opening the two-day conference on Thursday morning. Discussions will be centred around how the sanctuaries and DOC can best work together to create better outcomes for biodiversity nationally, especially in the areas of conservation restoration, advocacy, and public engagement.
The sanctuaries represented include ZEALANDIA, Brook Waimarama, Maungatautari, Orokanui, Rotokare, Shakespear, and Tawharanui.
