50th Anniversary Awards Dinner to mark Porirua’s birthday

Tickets are now on sale for the 50th Anniversary Awards Dinner at Te Rauparaha Arena on Saturday 3 October.

A highlight of the evening of fine food and entertainment will be the presentation of awards to 50 Porirua people who make our city the special place it is.

The 50 Years Awards celebrate the significant contribution that 50 living people have made, and continue to make, to the development of Porirua as a city.

Mayor Nick Leggett will present the awards.

“What better way to celebrate our city’s 50th than recognising 50 amazing individuals who make it great?” he said.

“Seeing the nominations flood in made me proud of the depth and quality and vision of our residents.”

Starting at 6.30pm the evening will finish at 11.30pm. Tickets are $100 each via TicketDirect or from Te Rauparaha Arena reception.

Among events during the anniversary weekend, 2-4 October, will be a pool party at the Aquatic Centre on the Sunday. Entry will be free from 1pm to 4pm and there will be prizes for the best costume (the theme is yet to be decided), a DJ, inflatables, and spot prizes.

Also watch out for Pataka exhibition Made in Porirua, which follows the successful We Built This City exhibition earlier in the year.
