Power fault affects homes in Kaiti, Gisborne

Power fault affects homes in Kaiti, Gisborne

Electricians are today visiting homes in Kaiti to check electricity supply following a fault that occurred on an 11kV/400V ground mounted transformer around 9am yesterday (4 August 2015).

The transformer supplies 61 residential connection points in the Delautour Rd, Hudson St and Martin Rd area.

Eastland Network general manager Brent Stewart said this morning that the company had received reports of damage to energy retailer meters, electrical installations and appliances.

“The scale of the damage has not yet been determined and so Eastland Network has engaged electricians to visit each of the affected properties to make a thorough check.”

Mr Stewart said Eastland Network was also hand-delivering letters to each home affected by the outage.

“The letter outlines the process to be followed by the consumer if they have suffered any damage and also reminds everyone that if they experience any further electricity issues – part-power, no power or problems with hot water – they need to contact our call centre on 0800 206 207.”

He thanked all affected householders for their patience.
