Swabbing Delayed
The scheduled trunk water main swabbing which was to take place this week has been delayed due to insufficient rainfall forecast.
“We are restricted by the resource consent conditions,” Dora Luo, Water Asset Engineer says.
“The low river flow means the work will have to be carried out at a later date or when the Manawatū River flow rate reaches the level required by the consent.”
Council staff will closely monitor the rainfall forecast and if possible reschedule the work and notify the public.
Annual swabbing is done to remove sediment from the water pipes. The build-up of sediment is the main cause of discoloured water.
