Kapiti Run for Youth launches fifth year
Kapiti Run for Youth launches fifth year
Over the last five years more than
$50,000 has been fed back in to Kapiti youth through Web
Genius Kapiti Run for Youth.
Richard Calkin of Web Genius is truly
delighted by this and he says “that he is pumped for
another big year as we launch Kapiti Run for Youth for
2015.”
Registrations for groups and
individuals to take part in the Web Genius Kapiti Run for
Youth are now open. “We would love to raise more than
what we did in 2014 ($21,000) as then we know that Youth
Quest, as the main benefactor, will be able to achieve even
more good work in our community through their operations and
mentoring programmes,” says Richard.
The date for this event is Sunday 8
November 2015 with the objective of having fun while running
or walking the beautiful Kapiti coastline, starting and
ending at MacLean Park, Paraparaumu Beach. There is a
toolkit available online to maximise the fundraising
experience and everyone has access to the campaign manager,
Helene Judge who will guide and
motivate.
Helene says that “the group that raised the most money for Kapiti youth last year was M2PP. They were an awesome team all contributing personally and they convinced many of their suppliers who are working on the MacKays to Peka Peka expressway to also donate.”
Kapiti Run for Youth
can be a wonderful social exercise for business groups,
sports teams or even just groups of friends. “The
challenge is to have some fun while getting fit and raising
money for local youth,” says Helene.
Richard goes on to say, “that we want
to beef up the concept of fundraising partners who have a
youth focus in their objectives. So far we have Activate
Youth, Girl Guiding Kapiti, Kapiti Basketball Association,
Kapiti Youth Support, Kenakena School Boys Mentoring Group
and the No 49 (Kapiti) Squadron Air Training Corps. What
this actually means, is they will receive back 40% of what
they individually fundraise with the other 40% going to
Youth Quest and 20% going towards event
logistics.”
When
entering, there are four great options to choose from: 12km
walk, 6km walk, 12km run and a 6km run taking place between
10am and1pm. This is a unique community event and an
opportunity to raise money for your own cause as a
fundraising partner as well as Youth Quest.
Richard is passionate about running
Kapiti Run for Youth to continue helping Youth Quest and
other fundraising partners. Terry Poko of Youth Quest is
totally supportive of the event. “It’s fantastic how
local businesses and individuals get in behind this event to
help Youth Quest financially in the work that we do – we
really appreciate it and we will be entering our own team of
boys to help with logistics on the day and to participate in
the run,” says Terry.
