Wellington's top chefs come together to cook for deserving families

Chefs from some of Wellingtons’ most generous restaurants donned their aprons, sharpened their knives and cooked up a storm at Ronald McDonald House Wellington (RMHA) last night.

Glen Taylor from Zibibbo, Blayne Still from Shed 5 and Marie Penny from Dockside, along with special guest chef Daren Snead spent the afternoon preparing a beautiful meal for all the families who are currently calling RMHW their home while a child in their family is admitted to Wellingtons Children Hospital.

Warren Owen the Regional General Manager of RMHW is so grateful to all the restaurants that have given up their time to support this event. “I’m thrilled by the generosity of the chefs, and the families really appreciate their effort too. With the freezing weather we are having of late, it’s such a nice treat for the families along with our long standing volunteers to be able to have such a beautiful meal prepared for them.”

The evening also gives restaurants and their teams the opportunity to come to the House and meet the families they are supporting.

The Chefs’ Night brings together chefs from some of the participating restaurants in this year’s annual Supper Club held by RMHW. The event will be held on September 22nd and will involve 30 of Wellington’s top restaurants.

The event comes with a twist: guests purchase a table of eight, which a restaurant has kindly donated, but do not know where they will be dining until it is drawn at the cocktail party on the actual night.

In 2014, Supper Club raised over $60,000 which went a long way in supporting almost 1000 Kiwi families from all over New Zealand, who call Ronald McDonald House Wellington their home each year.
