Situation update for Gisborne

NZTA advises motorists to delay their travel where possible as road closures remain in place for State Highway 2 at the Waioeka Gorge.

State Highway 2 South has been opened to one lane for essential traffic only between Morere and Bartlett’s Hill. Contractors are piloting vehicles through.
Tiniroto Road is still closed. There are also issues between Matawai and Otoko.
Further updates on road conditions will be available around 2.30pm.

State Highway 35 remains open but road conditions are still very wet and extra care is advised. People are not advised to use this as an alternative route to travel north.

For information on road conditions check the NZTA website or call 0800 444449.
Eastland Network contractors are working to restore power.

People are advised to contact their customer help line for reporting power outages or fallen power lines on 0800 206 207.

Anyone requiring emergency medical assistance are advised to call 111.
