Nominations open for Christchurch Civic Awards
Christchurch City Council is asking residents to nominate their unsung heroes for the 2015 Christchurch Civic Awards.
Nominations for this year's awards are now open and will close on Friday 31 July 2015.
Councillor Yani Johanson, Chair of the Civic Awards sub-committee says, "I really do encourage the public to nominate those people who give up their time and go the extra mile to play a vital part in making our city such a wonderful place to live."
Both individuals and organisations that make a significant contribution or service to Christchurch can be nominated for the Civic Award.
"Many people and groups make outstanding contributions to our city and the Civic Award is the highest honour that the Council can give out in recognition of their exceptional service and achievements, he says."
The Council has published a 2015 Christchurch Civic Awards nomination guide and a form which can be collected from its service centres and public libraries. It is also available online from the Christchurch City Council's website, www.ccc.govt.nz.
Christchurch City Council reinstituted the city's Civic Awards last year after an interval of two years during which they were replaced by the Earthquake Awards. Last year, Mayor Lianne Dalziel presented Civic Awards to ten individuals and three organisations.
