Pahiatua Track to Remain Closed until Tomorrow
A burst of heavy rain over the past hour will mean the Pahiatua Track will not reopen as planned this afternoon.
Palmerston North City Council City Acting Roading Manager, Andrew Higgs said roading contractors were hoping to allow traffic through at 4pmbut the road surface remains too slippery and dangerous.
“In the interests of public safety we have decided to delay plans to re-open the Track until lunchtime tomorrow, depending on the weather”, he said.
The Track which links Palmerston North with the Tararua District was closed by two large land slips, which came down during the storm on Saturday.
