Volunteer Recognition Awards
Volunteer Recognition Awards
Amazing people will
receive Volunteer Recognition Awards on Tuesday 23 June as
part of this year’s celebrations for National Volunteer
Week.
These amazing people include a woman who’s
been helping at an op shop for 33 years;
someone who
prepares food for animals at a wildlife reserve despite
being in a wheelchair and having no speech; and a Coastguard
Vessel Master whose role includes recovering bodies from
rough seas.
Ruth Gardner, Manager of Volunteering Canterbury, says: “Each year we are all stunned to learn about the incredible ways these special volunteers contribute to our community. Their various stories show how each one makes a major difference.”
Everyone is welcome to come and hear about Canterbury’s outstanding volunteers at a ceremony to be held at the City Council’s Function Room on Tuesday 23 June at 2pm.
There will also be an opportunity to hear a variety of volunteers talk about their experiences at an event on Thursday 25 June, 2pm, at Christchurch Community House. No charge – all welcome.
