Green Corridors looking for new members

Community group, Green Corridors is currently looking to recruit new community representatives.

The group is looking for interested persons with ideas around increasing plantings and maintaining plant stock.

“It would be great if we could find new members with a background in biodiversity or conservation or in a field that has some environmental component,” Michael Duindam, Green Corridors Project Officer said.

Michael says Green Corridors has hugely benefited the City. “We’ve planted over 140,000 trees in the Turitea Valley and Summerhill areas, which has created a fantastic habitat for our native birds to thrive in, improved water quality for our native fish and produced a beautiful bush network for our City to enjoy for walking, running, biking and to have a picnic in.”

Green Corridors is managed by a group of representatives from Palmerston North City Council, Horizons Regional Council, Environment Network Manawatū and the Community.
