Government's Red Zone Process Completely Wrong, Defies Supreme Court
Cera and the government's belated announcement of further delays in
their consultation process regarding the Red Zone came as no surprise to
the hundreds of homeowners and land owners.
The Quake Outcasts group, representing property owners in the flat lands
of Christchurch, and Port Hills Section Owners' Group, representing
section owners in the Port Hills, have the following statement:
"The Supreme Court clearly says the red zoning process was completely
unlawful. The government should have consulted with affected residents
PRIOR to the announcement of the zoning decision. And now the
consultation process initiated is completely wrong and is in conflict
with the Supreme Court ruling."
"The government has known what we need for 3 years. The consultation
process is a public relations exercise in an attempt to legitimise
unlawful policies."
