Ultrafast Fibre proud to have completed Whanganui network

Ultrafast Fibre Limited is pleased to join Communications Minister, Amy Adams, to announce today that it has completed building the Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) network in Whanganui.

Having completed deployment of around 330km of network, residents can now connect to UFB through their chosen broadband retail service provider.

“Whanganui is the largest centre to date in our Central North Island network to have its UFB rollout completed,” says Ultrafast Fibre CEO, William Hamilton.

“With around 18,500 end users now able to connect and demand for UFB services growing, we are really excited to empower Whanganui in the digitally connected world.”

Ultrafast Fibre can now add Whanganui to its list of completed network builds, which includes Te Awamutu, Cambridge, Tokoroa and Hawera.

The Company is currently holding a three-day ‘Beyond Broadband’ Expo at UCOL Whanganui to celebrate the launch of the completed network.

“We believe the Expo event is an ideal platform to show locals first-hand how they can use the next generation of broadband and how easy it is to connect to UFB through the retail service providers,” says Mr Hamilton.

Chair of the Whanganui Digital Leaders Forum, Mayor Annette Main, is delighted the UFB build is complete and looks forward to the opportunities the technology will provide to everyone in the community.

"Our Council, in conjunction with the community of Whanganui, has worked hard to ensure our district has the infrastructure it needs to become a well-connected, socially inclusive, prosperous and sustainable place, now and into the future,” says the Mayor.

"The next step is to build our knowledge workforce and make sure everyone has access to the technology they need for everyday life.”

Ultrafast Fibre builds, owns and operates the UFB fibre networks in Te Awamutu, Hamilton, Cambridge, Tauranga, Tokoroa, Whanganui, New Plymouth and Hawera.
